Electrical Engineer

Overview

Leidos, a top government contractor recognized by Forbes and a World’s Most Ethical Companies award, is hiring an Engineer to support the FAA’s Engineering Services Terminal team in Ft. Worth. The role involves working independently, managing travel (30%) and collaborating closely with the Project Engineer and other stakeholders.

• Perform on-site surveys to develop “to-scale” designs and detailed reports.
• Generate sketches showing the relation of proposed installations with exact specifications and dimensions.
• Assist in construction inspections and final inspections.
• Coordinate with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve design or implementation problems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for site‑specific modifications and new construction.
• Create AutoCAD construction drawings, site‑specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates.
• Execute project‑management tasks, including safety plans, sequence of work, and cutover plans.
• Generate and coordinate Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and the project risk register to meet ORM requirements.
• Obtain work permits for potential asbestos and lead impacts during construction.
• Participate in pre‑construction and on‑site construction meetings with stakeholders.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Manage on‑site cutovers, testing, and restoration of facilities.
• Maintain project updates for the team, management, and stakeholders.
• Conduct internal design reviews of FAA‑designed engineering projects.
• Track and reconcile the closure of Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) and provide resolutions.
• Review project deliverables and communicate findings verbally and in writing.

• Electrical Engineering degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 2–6 years of experience, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering scheduling tools, and internet research.
• Strong AutoCAD / Micro Station (or similar) skills.
• Experience with load calculations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to produce clear, concise technical writing and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
• Skill in maintaining an electronic project folder related to site preparation and equipment installation.
• Provide technical assistance for closing construction‑related punch‑list items.
• Ability to work independently within a large engineering organization.
• Basic knowledge of multiple disciplines relevant to standard project types.
• Experience communicating with stakeholders, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced team environment.
• Requirement to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and pass a drug screening.

• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Familiarity with OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
