Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Package Engineer II to join our Product Design and Development Team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and specifying primary/secondary/tertiary packaging for products manufactured at Alcon, as well as authoring, reviewing, approving, and developing technical documents related to packaging and packaging studies. Additionally, you will identify and implement solutions related to packaging.
Key Responsibilities- Applying mechanical and electrical engineering principles to develop medical devices that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost and efficiency requirements
- Conducting mathematical modeling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible
- Supporting and participating in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototypes; may also be involved with designing product‑specific manufacturing processes and equipment
- Designing, developing and specifying primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for products and conducting testing to support project assignments
- Developing protocols, supervising testing (when applicable), authoring technical reports, resolving quality or technical issues, and identifying cost reductions and productivity opportunities through use of new technology, package design, or machinery
- Planning and scheduling work activities based on project and operational needs
- Coordinating testing activities with Production and QA
- Providing recommendations for strategic packaging initiatives
- Developing personal knowledge and skill, continuously learning, and completing all required training
- Sharing knowledge and experience with co‑workers to develop the team’s overall capability
- Coordinating work activities with other Package Engineering Team members
- Adapting schedule to flexible work hours as necessary
- Coordinating with other departments to accomplish objectives
- Assisting with troubleshooting activities related to product packaging
- Working with Marketing and Production on packaging design
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (high school +10 years; Associate +6 years; M.S. +0 years)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Work hours:
40 hours per week - Travel requirements: up to 10%
- Relocation assistance: yes (domestic)

- Degrees in Package Engineering with 5–8 years of experience, including 3–5 years in a cGMP environment
- CPP certification
