Description
You will be the Systems Engineering Principal for the Airworthiness Engineering Team which is responsible for advancing aeronautics airworthiness solutions.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Systems Engineering Principal (level
6) you will be responsible for leading the business area through the 1
LMX initiative and shaping the design and operational airworthiness certification for the U.S. and allied militaries.
- Drive the 1
LMX initiative, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timelines. - Lead technical efforts to develop and certify airworthiness solutions for current and future platforms.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders to integrate certification requirements early in the design process.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance for U.S. and allied defense customers.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas) is $151,200 – $266,570. This range will vary based on the final work location. The position also includes an incentive plan.

Qualifications- Basic Qualifications:
- Experience leading a team of airworthiness practitioners to develop and execute program‑level airworthiness efforts.
- Business acumen to coordinate with program management for captures, execution, and customer engagements.
- Technical depth to provide subject matter expertise to support line of business strategy development, training, and long‑range objectives.
- Ability to develop executive communications and briefings to highlight the mission value proposition.
- Program management skills to coordinate with management on airworthiness budget, schedule, and staffing.
- Desired
Skills: - Technical expertise to lead a diverse team of system safety practitioners and develop cutting‑edge tools and analysis techniques.
- Executive presence to coordinate with senior leadership and establish internal and external processes.
- Airworthiness expertise including standards such as USAF MIL‑HDBK‑516, USN EDRAP, FAA regulations, EMAR, and EASA.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. The position requires an active Secret clearance to start and is located at a facility that requires special access. The job can be based in Fort Worth, TX, Marietta, GA, or Palmdale, CA.
Other Important InformationWorks onsite full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility. Supported work schedules include a 4×10 hour day with three days off per week.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
