Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Specialist, Electrical Drafter to join our growing Electrical Engineering team. This role will play a central part in the development and execution of electrical and control system designs for a new greenfield manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute throughout all stages of the engineering lifecycle—from concept to commissioning.
You will work closely with electrical engineers, process and mechanical teams, and project stakeholders to generate accurate, code-compliant electrical and control system documentation. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced role for a self-driven individual who thrives on solving complex design challenges in a multidisciplinary environment.
Position Responsibilities- Independently create and revise 2D and 3D electrical and control system drawings, including, Wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel layouts, Network connectivity drawings and cable routing plans, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related documentation.
- Translate engineering concepts, specifications, and field inputs into accurate, construction-ready drawings.
- Integrate applicable codes and standards (NEC, NEMA, IEC, ISA) into all design work to ensure compliance and consistency.
- Maintain and update design documentation throughout the project lifecycle—from Front-End Loading (FEL) to as-built record sets.
- Organize, manage, and archive all drawings and related files according to MP Materials' document control protocols.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, technicians, and contractors to validate field requirements, troubleshoot design issues, and ensure accuracy.
- Review and incorporate vendor submittals, equipment data, and third‑party drawings into internal design packages.
- Provide design labor estimates and assist with project planning, resource scheduling, and procurement processes.
- Support field construction and commissioning by issuing updated drawings, resolving RFIs, and validating as built documentation.
- Perform detailed self‑checks and peer‑reviews of drawing sets for accuracy, clarity, compliance, and completeness.
- Participate in formal design reviews at key project milestones (proof‑of‑concept, engineering acceptance, IFC).
- Recommend improvements to internal drafting processes, templates, and standards based on field experience and design outcomes.
- Maintain strict version control and revision tracking across all drawing sets and associated documentation.
- Manage and maintain secure archives of both digital and physical drawings, including "hot copy" files used during construction.
- Coordinate across disciplines (electrical, mechanical, process, controls) to ensure cohesive system integration.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and engineering consultants to align design expectations and resolve design‑related challenges.
- Proactively support knowledge sharing and design consistency across teams through standardization and best practice documentation.
