This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, testing, certifying, and fitting Aircrew Survival Equipment (ALSE) supporting F/A-18 aircraft across multiple variants
. The successful candidate will ensure all assigned survival equipment remains fully mission capable and compliant with NAVAIR technical publications, aviation life support requirements, and applicable safety standards.

Position SummaryThe Aircrew Survival Flight Equipment Technician I performs organizational-level maintenance, inspection, repair, modification, certification, and operational testing of Aircrew Survival Equipment (ALSE) supporting F/A-18 aircraft. Working under the direction of senior life support personnel, this position maintains aircraft survival equipment, oxygen systems, emergency communication devices, and associated life support equipment to ensure maximum operational readiness and aircrew safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, servicing, repair, testing, and certification of Aircrew Survival Equipment (ALSE) supporting F/A-18 aircraft across multiple variants.
- Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify, assemble, and certify aviation life support equipment in accordance with approved technical publications.
- Inspect, maintain, and determine serviceability of flight helmets, oxygen masks, torso harnesses, parachutes, survival vests, anti-G suits, life preservers, life rafts, survival kits, personal flotation devices, emergency locator transmitters, survival radios, emergency signaling devices, and chemical and biological protective equipment.
- Perform operational and functional testing of emergency communication equipment, emergency locator transmitters, survival radios, and signaling devices.
Conduct electrical continuity checks, operational testing, and circuit verification of survival radios, emergency beacons, and associated electronic equipment. - Inspect, maintain, service, and test aircraft oxygen equipment and associated life support components.
- Inspect pyrotechnic devices, explosive cartridges, initiators, and associated survival equipment in accordance with explosive safety procedures and technical directives.
- Replace life-limited components and time-controlled items in accordance with maintenance schedules and applicable technical publications.
- Inspect and maintain aircraft egress-related survival equipment to ensure compatibility, reliability, and mission readiness.
- Interpret engineering drawings, Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs), maintenance manuals, technical directives, inspection criteria, and manufacturer technical publications.
- Fit, adjust, configure, and issue survival equipment to individual aircrew members in accordance with established sizing and operational requirements.
- Demonstrate the proper operation, inspection, care, and emergency use of assigned survival equipment.
- Maintain inspection records, maintenance documentation, serialized equipment records, inventory accountability, and life support history files.
- Utilize specialized life support maintenance tools, oxygen servicing equipment, electronic diagnostic equipment, electrical test equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
