Drive Performance. Optimize Production. Make an Impact.

At U.S. Energy
, "Strive for Excellence" isn't just a motto—it's how we operate. For more than 45 years, we've built a differentiated approach to developing onshore North American energy projects through disciplined execution, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for our partners.

We're looking for a Senior Production Engineer to join our growing Operations team and help maximize the performance of our operated assets across the Permian Basin.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Production Engineer, you'll play a critical role in optimizing production, improving operational efficiency, and driving the economic performance of our operated portfolio. You'll work closely with Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Operations, Accounting, and field personnel to develop engineering solutions that maximize production while maintaining safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys balancing field operations with technical analysis and wants to see the direct impact of their work on asset performance.

What You'll Do

  • Optimize production performance across operated assets and identify opportunities to improve well productivity.
  • Analyze production trends, diagnose underperforming wells, and recommend engineering solutions.
  • Design and optimize artificial lift systems, including ESP, gas lift, rod pump, and jet pump applications.
  • Develop and execute well intervention and production optimization projects.
  • Prepare AFEs, engineering economics, and capital estimates while monitoring project performance against budget.
  • Partner with Reservoir Engineering, Geology, and Operations to support field development planning.
  • Manage vendor relationships, RFP processes, and service agreements to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor lease operating expenses (LOE) and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining production reliability.
  • Support reserve evaluations and provide engineering analysis for operated assets.
  • Ensure production activities comply with company safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve operational performance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • 5+ years of production engineering experience with an upstream operator.
  • Strong Permian Basin experience (multi-basin experience is a plus).
  • Hands‑on experience supporting operated assets and production optimization.
  • Strong understanding of artificial lift systems, production surveillance, and well performance analysis.
  • Experience with engineering and production software such as Enverus, Pump Checker, Well View, Cyg Net, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Why U.S. Energy?

At U.S. Energy, you'll join a team that values technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We invest in our team members with challenging work, meaningful career growth, and one of the industry's most competitive benefits packages, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for team members and eligible dependents
  • 401(k) with a 100% company match up to 5%
  • 100% tuition program for undergraduate and graduate degrees
  • Paid parental leave and family planning benefits
  • Wellness reimbursement
  • Weekly company-provided lunches
  • A collaborative culture where your contributions directly impact the success of our operated assets

If you're ready to help optimize high-quality operated assets while working alongside a talented, multidisciplinary team, we'd love to hear from you.
