Salary/Plan Group:
Transportation Engineer III: (B26) $76,530 - $129,430 Transportation Engineer IV: (B27) $84,182 - $142,374 This position is for 1 (one) Transportation Engineer III or IV. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Minimum Salary: $76,530.00

Maximum Salary: $ Anticipated Starting Salary: TE III - $8,600; TE IV - $9,446

Position Description Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.

Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Transportation Engineer III Essential Duties:
Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex transportation projects. Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements. Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submission, special specifications or special provisions. Reviews, processes and certifies project design plans developed by consulting engineers.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Transportation Engineer IV (including Transportation Engineer III) Essential Duties:
Assists Project Managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines for highly complex projects. Formulates, develops and/or monitors budgets and financial information. Interprets laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to professional services contracting to ensure compliance with Department and governmental regulations. Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work. Develops plans for the Project Managers related to resource assignments, schedules, scope, communication, quality, and procurement, while utilizing available resources and maintaining the agency's project objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS. Transportation Engineer III
