Position Information

TxDOT's Fort Worth District is looking for a Design-Build Engineer (Transportation Engineer II or III) based in Fort Worth, TX to work on Alternative Delivery projects in the region. This position will provide you with the opportunity to assist with managing active heavy-highway construction, while interfacing with the public and governmental entities, managing consultant resources, reviewing construction schedules, providing oversight of construction work, and many other activities required to deliver a major project.

Salary / Grade

Transportation Engineer II: (B25) $69,572 - $114,099

Transportation Engineer III: (B26) $76,530 - $129,430

This posting is for one (1) Transportation Engineer II or III position, depending on business need and applicants' qualifications. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

  • Statistical analysis methodologies and reporting procedures
  • Standards and specifications for bridges and other transportation structures
  • Construction engineering policies and procedures
  • Geometric design relationships to traffic operations, maintenance and construction
  • Utilities such as water and electrical services
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
  • Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex transportation projects.
  • Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.
  • Monitors contractors' compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.

Experience

5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
