Role DescriptionThe Fire Sprinkler Designer is responsible for preparing detailed fire sprinkler system layouts and hydraulic calculations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing architectural and structural plans, coordinating with sales, managers, engineers, and field teams to produce shop drawings, calculations, and submittals using CAD or other design software for city and general contractor approval.
The role also involves material listing, submittal preparation, supporting installation crews with design-related questions, and assisting with revisions and as-built documentation. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Fort Worth, TX
.
- Experience with fire sprinkler system design, including reading and interpreting construction documents and applying relevant fire protection codes and standards, such as NFPA 13.
- Proficiency in CAD or similar design software for creating detailed layouts, riser diagrams, coordination drawings, and hydraulic calculations.
- Ability to perform material takeoffs and basic cost estimating for fire sprinkler systems.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including preparing submittals, as-built drawings, and clear design notes for installation teams.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for coordinating with project managers, contractors, and field personnel.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and compliance in all design work.
- Preferred:
Prior experience in fire sprinkler design, NICET certification in Water-Based Systems Layout, or related industry credentials. - Preferred:
Relevant technical degree, trade school certificate, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in fire protection systems.
