Sky Cam Operator – Contract – Fort Worth, Texas – Kroenke Sports & Entertainment
Job OverviewUnder general supervision, the Sky Cam Operator ensures the safe and effective framing, focus, and operation of the Sky Cam system for live‑event broadcasts, coordinating with the Pilot, EIC, Technical Operations Manager, Sky‑NOC, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Frame, focus, and provide stabilized acquisition of directed and undirected shots using remote heads and gimbals.
- Operate the Sky Cam system within safe protocols and established procedures.
- Maintain direct communication with the Pilot, EIC, Technical Operations Manager, and NOC to ensure safe installation.
- Fly, orient, and position the Sky Cam system for camera operators at live events.
- Assemble, rig, and operate all necessary tools and system parts.
- Deploy, maintain, and repair the system under the direction of the NOC & Technical Operations Manager.
- Communicate all technical needs and irregular operations to the onsite Pilot, EIC, NOC, and TOM.
- Attend camera meetings and represent safe capabilities to clients.
- On client job sites – set up and operate equipment, interface with client and venue personnel, safely operate equipment (weather, equipment breakdowns, etc.), report all equipment issues and recommendations to the Pilot, EIC, TOM, and NOC, provide updates to site surveys as needed, and ensure all safety schedules and protocols are followed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in remote camera/pan/tilt head operation, aircraft operation and control, drone operation and control, and/or a strong background in media, broadcasting, technical, IT, engineering, or production industry.
- Proficient in MS Windows; basic electronics and networking knowledge essential.
- Valid driver’s license required; U.S. passport or ability to obtain required for domestic and international travel. Extensive travel, extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (AS or technical school acceptable).
- Skilled in the use of remote heads, gimbals, drones, and camera systems.
- Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills with a strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to collaborate with different people.
- Strong attention to detail; analytical and creative skills.
- Electrical and mechanical aptitude; proficiency with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
- Comfort with working in a rapidly changing environment; open to innovative ideas.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
- Moderate noise environment.
- Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or be able to obtain U.S. passport.
- High‑stress, fast‑paced environment with multi‑level distractions.
- Extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
