SUMMARY:

The Loan Processor position is responsible for managing the end-to-end process of real estate loan applications, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance from submission through to closing. It includes overseeing escrow accounts, verifying applicant details, preparing loan files for underwriting, and maintaining up-to-date records. The role also involves liaising with loan officers, applicants, and internal departments to facilitate efficient loan processing, address any issues, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan lifecycle.

DUTIES AND

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assess loan applications and accompanying documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
  • Oversee escrow accounts by ensuring timely collection and disbursement of funds, managing escrow balances, and addressing any discrepancies in escrow calculations.
  • Oversee the comprehensive processing of real estate loan applications by meticulously reviewing and verifying all submitted documentation.
  • Manage the loan processing workflow from application through approval and closing, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies while facilitating a smooth and efficient process.
  • Liaise with loan applicants, loan officers, and other relevant parties to collect necessary information, resolve discrepancies, and address inquiries throughout the loan process.
  • Verify applicant details, including employment history, income, credit reports, and property appraisals, to evaluate loan eligibility and associated risks.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive loan files to underwriting for evaluation, ensuring all required documentation is included and adheres to underwriting standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as underwriting, compliance, and loan servicing to ensure efficient loan processing and timely closing.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date loan files and records, ensuring compliance with document retention policies, regulatory standards, and internal procedures.
  • Provide regular updates on loan status to loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience throughout the loan process.
  • Assist in resolving loan-related issues and exceptions by working with internal and external stakeholders to address and resolve problems promptly.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in lending operations, including escrow management and HMDA compliance, to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) by accurately reporting loan data and maintaining comprehensive records to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational objectives and enhance operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review and analyze complex financial documents and data accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with banking software/systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing job responsibilities and priorities to support the needs of the lending team and the bank.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in loan processing, mortgage lending, or banking operations preferred.
