Controller
LHH is partnering with a service organization in Fort Worth to hire a Controller. They are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This individual will lead the day-to-day finance function, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and partner with leadership on strategic planning and budgeting initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in an independent environment, can make sound business decisions, and is passionate about driving operational efficiency and financial excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead all accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Post journal entries and reconcile cash, investments, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts
- Develop, update, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and departmental processes with a focus on automation and efficiency
- Oversee payroll processing, retirement funding, and HSA contributions
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including approvals, coding, reconciliations, and cash flow management
- Maintain and update the chart of accounts and accounting systems as needed
- Support reporting and financial documentation requirements
- Partner with departments to develop budgets and prepare supporting invoices
- Assist with annual operating budgets, multi-year forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Support annual audits and tax filings, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation
- Participate in vendor negotiations and oversee insurance programs, including health, commercial, and workers' compensation coverage
- Serve as a strategic business partner to leadership while driving continuous process improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 1+ years of leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
- Experience with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and influence decisions across the organization
