The Equipment Valuation & Asset Management Specialist is responsible for performing accurate equipment valuations and supporting the full collateral lifecycle, including inspections, repossessions, foreclosures, and asset disposition. This role requires prior field experience inspecting equipment and coordinating recoveries, along with strong analytical skills to assess market values and collateral risk.
The position works cross-functionally with Credit, Collections, Legal, Sales, and Asset Management to ensure collateral protection, regulatory compliance, and optimized recovery outcomes. This is a mid-level professional role requiring independent judgment, strong operational execution, and effective stakeholder communication.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform equipment valuations using established tools, guidelines, and comparable market data.
- Support preparation of valuation summaries for underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and workout activity.
- Maintain valuation databases and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and review findings for accuracy and completeness.
- Flag asset condition concerns, location discrepancies, or documentation gaps.
- Assist with repossession coordination, storage arrangements, and asset tracking.
- Maintain recovery logs and support disposition documentation.
- Respond to internal valuation requests from credit, sales, legal, and collections.
- Participate in portfolio reviews and collateral audits.
- Follow valuation standards, internal policies, and documentation requirements.
- Support audit and regulatory review processes as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in equipment valuation, asset management, collateral monitoring, inspections, or recovery operations within equipment finance, leasing, lending, or asset-based lending.
- Demonstrated field experience inspecting equipment and/or coordinating repossessions and asset recoveries.
- Strong working knowledge of heavy construction, transportation, industrial, or specialty equipment markets.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous, time-sensitive, and risk-oriented environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Equipment Appraiser (CEA) or similar valuation credential.
- Experience working with valuation platforms, asset management systems, or ERP tools (e.g., Microsoft Business Central / NAV).
- Experience supporting legal enforcement actions, foreclosure processes, or structured workout strategies.
- Prior exposure to remarketing, auctions, or secondary market asset disposition.
