Job Title
Government Relations Representative Principal – Level 6
ReportingThe Government Relations Principal reports directly to the Director of Government Relations in Business Development.
ScopeProvide leadership and direction for the site operation’s involvement in all political and legislative processes as it affects current programs and new business opportunities.
Objectives and Responsibilities- Interface with Vice President, General Manager, Business Development, site leadership, and program directors to understand company culture, strategic objectives, values, business issues, problems, and opportunities.
- Interface with Business Development marketing managers and staff to understand current domestic and international marketing issues, problems, and opportunities.
- Develop strategy and action/contact plan consistent with the site operation’s strategic plan and business development objectives.
- Support and influence Business Development’s legislative and economic development pursuits and capture process of new business opportunities.
- Seek opportunities to engage key industry advocacy organizations (e.g., North Texas Commission, Texas Association of Manufacturing).
- Maintain working relationships with plant/site leadership; provide timely recommendations and counsel on state and local government matters; attend program staff meetings as appropriate.
- Understand customers and their values at the local, state, and national level.
- Lead and coordinate legislative site visits and activities to build a strong constituency among company leadership, union leadership, and suppliers.
- Represent LM Aero at local and state political events.
- Manage the LMEPAC Fund within all legal and ethical guidelines.
- Establish and cultivate effective relationships with key state legislators and senior state government leaders.
- Develop, lead, and implement the political and legislative strategy for all programs at the site.
- Maintain key political relationships to support company goals.
- Support the Lockheed Martin Government Affairs office on message development, satellite plant contacts, and grassroots outreach.
- Act as point of contact for all site visits by local, state, and federally elected officials and staff.
- Provide expert government relations advice in the state of the operation.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with local Texas congressional members and staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 12+ years of professional experience, or
- 10+ years of experience with a related master’s degree,
- 15+ years of experience in the absence of a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with federal, state, or local government.
- Experience managing or leading corporate events with government officials in attendance.
- Experience creating and developing legislative strategy plans.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Domestic travel required.
- Requires a government security clearance (Secret level).
