This position is a standard Firefighter position. The incumbent responds to all hazards utilizing specialized equipment and PPE to mitigate emergencies as they occur. They conduct fire prevention activities, including inspections.

• Respond to all emergencies IAW organizational policies and procedures.
• Operate various emergency equipment required by the Scope of Practice.
• Inspect all emergency equipment, apparatuses, and personal protective equipment IAW organizational policies, procedures, and manufacturers recommendations.
• Conduct inspections IAW FM Global and organizational policies and procedures.
• Conduct inspections of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, and associated fire protection systems IAW organizational policies and procedures.
• Assist with Public Fire Prevention and Education Programs, including but not limited to: fire extinguisher training and fire drills.
• Participate in required training programs to meet certification standards, including specialized training for equipment purchased.
• Maintain all professional certifications.
• Ensure all reports, documents and records are completed IAW organizational policies and procedures.
• Properly plan, respond, mitigate and recover from multiple types of emergency situations as outlined by the Scope of Services.
• Properly inspect, maintain, and operate all provided emergency equipment IAW organizational policies, procedures, and manufacturers recommendations.
• Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Structural Fire Fighter 1
• Structural Fire Fighter 2
• Hazardous Materials Awareness
• Hazardous Materials Operations
• Texas Department of State and Health Services and/or National Registry EMT-Basic

• Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF)
• First Aid, AED Certification, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• Courage to Be Safe Certification
• National Incident Management System: ICs 100, 200, 700, and 800

• Fire Officer 1
• Fire Service Instructor 1
• Fire Service Inspector 1
• Hazardous Materials Incident Commander
• National Incident Management System: ICs 300 and 400
• Associate’s degree in a related field

• NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications
• NFPA 1003, Standard for Airport Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications
• NFPA 1072, Standard for Hazardous Material/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications
• TDSHS or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Certification
• OSHA  Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response – requires Incident Command System for all hazardous material incidents.
