Work hours:
Full-time (40 hours); 6:30 AM-5:00 PM, 4 shifts per weekday. On call twice per week and rotating on call weekends
We are a full-service Neurodiagnostics unit. We provide EEG, EMU/Continuous monitoring and Neuro Intro-operative monitoring. We are an ABRET-credentialed lab in NIOM. We currently have 13 fully trained technicians. We have a 4-bed EMU.
Here’s What You Need Education- High school diploma or equivalent with ten (10) years registered EPT required
- Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare related field with seven (7) years experience with documentation of one hundred fifty (150) NIOM cases required
- IOM accredited certificate program with documentation of fifty (50) NIOM cases required
- Seven (7) years Neurodiagnostics experience (if Bachelor's held) required
- Ten (10) years Neurodiagnostics experience (if a high school diploma held) required
- R. EP T. – Registered EP Technician (if no Bachelor's degree) upon hire required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) required
- CNIM Certification preferred
Must be able to speak, read and write English with a high level of understanding. Must be able to see the computer readouts for EEG/EMG tracings and computers used in the provision services.
What You Will Do- Serve as a preceptor to assist in the training of EP Technicians and EEG Technicians.
- Assist in verifying clinical competencies for EP & EEG Technicians.
- Provide patient care using Neurodiagnostic procedures for neonatal through geriatric age patients.
- Maximize safe electro-neurodiagnostic monitoring procedures for at-risk surgeries.
- Collaborate at a high-level between surgeons, the OR, the neurologist panel, contract staff and department crew to obtain highest level of quality patient testing/monitoring coverage.
- Print and scan 24-hour record denoting significant data.
- Conduct patient assessments to ensure diagnostic testing capacity is relevant to patient condition with the ordered tests.
- Manage IOM exams that are not interpreted.
- Accurately apply, assess, utilize and communicate differences specific to each of the basic IOM tests.
- Identify adverse reactions to IOM testing and emergency measures for such initiated.
- Monitor patient safety by taking proactive steps to reduce or eliminate patient risks.
- Perform timely documentation of Neurodiagnostic procedures in Care Connect.
- Verify physician's orders for IOM monitoring and testing.
- Complete required ambulatory records to ensure they are accurate, timely and readily available.
- Takes proactive and assertive action to address concerns with patient orders by calling the physician.
- Communicate concerns, ideas or recognition involving practices or policies that will affect financial issues.
