- Management of Daily Department Activities – establishes systematic workflow and communication among all areas of radiology, and ensures adequate coverage of all shifts including vacation schedules, absenteeism, and turnover.
- Supervises all aspects of the department’s operation of assigned areas.
- Works in conjunction with modality team leaders to update radiology policy and procedure manuals, emergency and disaster plans.
- Human Resources – manages and mentors staff to foster professional growth and development of leaders; recommends hiring and retention of sufficient numbers of qualified staff; provides a work environment which attracts and retains patients, payers, physicians, employees, families, and guests; facilitates professional growth through seminars, workshops, and professional memberships; maintains accountability for orientation, continuing education, and competency verification; ensures licensure and certification of staff;
conducts timely performance evaluations; remains visible and accessible to staff; recommends salary adjustments and manages compression. - Purchasing and Financial Responsibilities – plans, initiates, and approves all equipment service requests, purchase requisitions, and invoices; coordinates, processes, and analyzes equipment CER requests; establishes and manages tracking mechanisms for cost analysis of all department spending; assists with using financial and material resources, prepares monthly statistical reports, projects patient volumes, and forecasts revenue and expenses.
- Manages the Quality Control Program – arranges for service of equipment, monitors the suitability of repairs, verifies documentation of equipment service reports; liaises with service companies to ensure routine equipment maintenance; ensures standards of practice, technical quality, technique charts or protocols, patient and PACS documentation are correct; ensures compliance with EPA, JCAHO, OSHA, TDH, and hospital and department standards for safety, infection control, department aesthetics, and equipment performance;
liaises with regulatory inspectors during inspections. - Manages the Performance Improvement Process – establishes, designs, and monitors quality measurement activities for both patient‑related and technical quality control; reviews technical standards regularly and recommends changes; compiles and presents data from quality assurance programs; identifies and recommends performance improvements; investigates complaints, Situation and Unusual Occurrence reports regarding patient care; cooperates and coordinates with other managers to facilitate communication flow and procedures between technical, clerical, support staff, students, and other departments;
plans, coordinates, and supervises projects including renovations. - Other duties as assigned, to include clinical coverage as appropriate per license.
- Associate’s Degree Preferred.
