Job Title: Occupational Therapist (0145)

Utilize clinical judgment and knowledge to develop individualized programs for students with disabilities. Provide therapy to maximize functioning, encourage independence, and adapt learning environments.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy or related program.
- Valid Texas license granted by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Identification, Evaluation, and Planning
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to assess student performance strengths and needs.
- Conduct functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, observations, checklists, histories, and interviews.
- Synthesize evaluation results into comprehensive written reports that reflect strengths and barriers, guide program development, and inform evidence‑based intervention.
- Develop intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
- Provide targeted, evidence‑based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation.
- Consult with the school-based team to achieve student outcomes.
- Adapt and modify the environment, including assistive technology.
- Provide training for instructional staff to meet individual needs and promote student independence.
- Design, construct, alter, and provide adaptive equipment and devices for maximum independence.
- Participate in the Admissions, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.
- Plan and provide direct and consultative services consistent with occupational therapy goals in the Student’s IEP.
Service Delivery
- Provide evidence‑based therapeutic intervention to enhance occupational performance.
- Consult the school‑based team for collaborative goal achievement.
- Assist with environmental modifications, assistive technology, and staff training.
- Educate students, personnel, and families about occupational performance and health maintenance.
- Monitor and reassess effects of intervention to determine continuation, modification, or discontinuation.
- Document services for accountability and reimbursement.
- Maintain discipline per Student Code of Conduct.
- Coordinate ongoing evaluation and program improvements.
- Assist in equipment selection and adaptive material procurement.
- Build relationships with students and parents.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and records.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Education and Staff Development
- Teach, monitor, and collaborate with staff, parents, and community agencies to improve occupational performance.
- Provide continuing education for staff and families.
- Consult with educational staff and parents regarding occupational therapy services.
- Offer staff development training on adaptive equipment use.
- Create learning environments appropriate to student maturity and interests.
