Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of a Radiologist, the X-Ray Technologist performs radiology procedures on ambulatory patients within an outpatient hospital based setting. Procedures are conducted as ordered by a physician or licensed provider for the purpose of diagnosing diseases, injuries, and guiding injections in accordance with established protocols.
Position Responsibilities- Perform high-quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol and within specified time frames.
- Adhere to established standards and procedures to maintain production and imaging quality.
- Use AIDET communication to ensure proper patient service, exam accuracy, and rapport.
- Instruct and communicate with patients and families regarding the procedure, assessing the patient’s ability to tolerate the exam.
- Position patients appropriately for radiology procedures, adjusting equipment controls and immobilization devices as necessary.
- Follow safety requirements, infection control protocols, and radiation safety policies to protect patients and staff.
- Adhere to sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive radiology procedures; ensure proper hand hygiene.
- Assist with maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, ensuring proper receipt and organization.
- Maintain clean, quality work areas and equipment, collaborating with engineers/physicists for optimal equipment functionality.
- Screen individuals for radiology department access in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Obtain and verify patient documentation including requisition/chart, medical history, pregnancy status, and shielding precautions.
- Maintain accurate medical imaging records in accordance with department standards.
- May perform charge duties and assist with training new team members.
- Participate in quality assurance efforts and documentation of policies and procedures.
- Certification in Radiologic Technology required (ARRT)
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
- Experience in performing radiology procedures in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Familiarity with AIDET communication, patient safety protocols, and infection control standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
