Job Goal

Responsible for implementation of health programs, health counseling with pupils, parents, and school personnel, provision of preventive health services and acute care, augmentation of health education programs, and liaison with the school community.

Position Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the field (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)
  • CNA, EMT, or LVN licensure (preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and support the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
  • Participate in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives.
  • Provide direct health care, emergency first aid, and related health services according to HPS policies and procedures.
  • Provide preventive health care by conducting appraisals, screening programs, referrals, and follow‑ups; recognizing, reporting, and using control measures on communicable diseases; and monitoring and providing follow‑up on immunization needs.
  • Provide families with information on health and medical resources and assist families to access medical care.
  • Conduct health counseling, make home visits, and follow through on health problems as needed.
  • Conduct instruction on bleeding control, dental and developmental health, CPR, and other health topics as needed for students, parents, and staff and serve as a resource to staff regarding health instruction.
  • Maintain and submit Student Immunization Records to the Department of State Health Services.
  • Contact parents regarding immunization requirements.
  • Perform state‑mandated student screenings and submit results to the Department of State Health Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use the computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
  • Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem‑solving skills.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Light work: may require the occasional light lifting.
  • Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
  • Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
  • Moderate travel is required.
