Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator leads the strategic design, implementation, and evaluation of injury and violence prevention programs required to maintain Level I Trauma Center verification. This role analyzes trauma registry and epidemiological data to identify injury trends and develops evidence-based, multi-level interventions across patient, organizational, and community settings throughout the hospital’s service area and the State of Texas. The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator serves as a key liaison between hospital operations and internal and external partners, supporting regulatory compliance, cross-sector collaboration, and measurable improvements in community injury outcomes.
This position directly impacts and is responsible for trauma center verification status, and measurable improvements in community injury outcomes, requiring a high degree of autonomy, subject matter expertise in regulatory requirements and systems-level changes.
- Researches, designs, implements, and evaluates comprehensive, evidence-informed injury prevention strategies using public health frameworks (e.g., primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention models and the social ecological model), integrating trauma analytics into community-facing programming to address priority mechanisms of intentional and unintentional injury across the hospital’s service area, region, and the State of Texas.
- Reviews comprehensive analysis of mechanisms of injury leveraging trauma registry data, EMR data, and community level public health data sets to identify trends, disparities, and high-risk populations for injury. Turns data into practice strategies to inform strategic prevention planning,…
