Overview
The Human Resources Generalist supports a broad range of HR functions across the organization. This position partners with leadership and staff to ensure effective HR operations. It serves as a key resource throughout the employee lifecycle while ensuring adherence to employment laws and organizational policies. The ideal candidate is motivated, adaptable, eager to learn, and ready to take on new challenges.
DutiesAnd Accountabilities
General HR Support
- Serve as a point of contact for employee HR questions, concerns, and issues
- Administer day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle
- Maintain accurate employee records, ensure that employee files are secure, and documentation is compliant with current employment practices and legal requirements (I-9 forms, tax information, FCRA requirements)
- Provide support for compliance-driven maintenance and reporting
- Support organizational HR initiatives and special projects as assigned
- Assist with employee engagement activities and organizational communications
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate and complete all new hire onboarding tasks for exempt and non-exempt positions across multiple sites
- Process employee status changes (transfers, leaves, and separations)
- Ensure the completion and tracking of all required background checks
- Manage employee offboarding processes, including exit surveys, paperwork, and collecting company property
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with all requirements set by relevant governing bodies and regulatory agencies
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and reporting requirements
- Maintain HR policies and procedures and ensure adherence to the employee handbook
Payroll & Benefits
- Support payroll workflow to ensure all transactions are processed accurately
- Assist with payroll processing, timekeeping, and resolution of payroll issues
- Serve as a liaison for employees to comprehend all aspects of benefits, including implementation, open enrollment, and briefing employees on available options.
Training & Development
- Assist with staff development initiatives, including HR-related training and learning needs
- Support employee engagement and recognitions
- Support performance evaluation cycles
Administrative Compliance
- Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time
- Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting
- Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls
- Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
- Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
Facility & Safety
- Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
- Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline
- Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
Relationships
- Be a positive role model
- Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
- Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner
Attendance
- Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required
Nonessential Duties
- Complete all other duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar major OR high school diploma with equivalent experience
- Prior Human Resources experience
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to work regular business hours

- Ability to build rapport and relationships
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Highly proactive, action-oriented, results-oriented, and a self-starter
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screens at any time
- Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid driver’s license for the operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual
- Experience with various human resources software/database
- Knowledge of employment laws
- Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage
- Salary: $55,000 yearly
