Summary:
The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is an experienced data professional who designs, develops and implements analytics tools and data solutions. This individual comprehensively understands business data needs, gathers requirements, analyzes data and develops robust analytics solutions for advanced projects, self-service analytics and business user consumption. The Senior BI Developer interfaces with clinical, financial and operational business leaders, subject matter experts as well as Information Services applications teams to design reports, dashboards and analytics that accurately reflect business workflows and drive action.
The Senior BI Developer plans, designs, architects, develops, tests and implements new BI solutions as well as troubleshoots, monitors and maintains existing BI solutions. Expertise writing relational and multidimensional database queries that meet performance objectives and business use cases. Expertise with data warehousing design and development methodologies. Strong experience with leading healthcare technology systems such as EMR (Epic), Claims processing (Epic), ERP (Workday), CRM, cloud based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake) etc.
The candidate will be seen as a leader and mentor to less experienced BI developers and may act as an informal project manager as needed. The individual identifies process improvement opportunities and writes recommendations, process documentation and best practices in a clear, concise manner.
Note: Must be willing to relocate to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, test and implement BI solutions and analytics for business users.
- Collaborate with clinical, financial and operational leaders and subject matter experts to gather requirements and translate them into reports, dashboards and analytics.
- Lead or mentor junior BI developers and contribute as a project team member on complex initiatives.
- Troubleshoot, monitor and maintain existing BI solutions; optimize relational and multidimensional queries; support data warehousing efforts.
- Document processes, best practices and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business or related field AND a minimum of 4 years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, Data Engineer, Database Developer, and/or Technical/Systems/Application Analyst OR a minimum of 6 years of experience in these roles.
- Expertise with business intelligence tools:
Microsoft BI stack, SAP Business Objects, TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc. - Expertise programming in SQL, Python, R, SAS or equivalent languages.
- Experience writing relational and multidimensional database queries and developing database objects; optimization experience.
- Strong experience in data warehousing design and methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience operating within the BI development lifecycle; requirements gathering, analysis, and verification.
- Strong experience in planning, designing, architecting, developing and supporting BI solutions.
- Strong experience debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting BI solutions.
- Experience creating and deploying reports, dashboards and analytics for business use.
- Experience leading and managing small-scale data and technology projects; mentoring junior BI developers.
- Able to exercise independent judgment with excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and methodical.
- Highly self-motivated with ability to prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.
- Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare, provider and/or managed care/insurance environment preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in information technology preferred.
- Epic certifications:
Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model. - Experience utilizing, developing and supporting Epic Cogito tools (Radar Dashboards, Reporting Workbench, Radar SQL Metrics, Crystal Reports, Slicer Dicer, Analytics Catalog, registries, etc.) preferred.
- Epic certification may be required for the position based on area focus.
- Employee must hold or obtain Epic certification within six (6) months of employment (including one allowed test retake).
- Required Epic certifications for BI Developers supporting Epic include:
Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model. - Preferred:
