Position Purpose

Oversees and manages the school bus video and audio technology systems. Retrieves bus video upon request from Transportation Management staff and campus administrators in an effort to maintain a safe school bus environment, and support District investigatory purposes. Stores and distributes video in accordance with local and federal privacy policies. Assists in the maintenance, repair and replacement of video and audio systems.

Programs, maintains, monitors, repairs, evaluates, integrates, and updates the various electronics and telematics componentry used in the District transportation vehicles, including but not limited to Camera systems, 2-way radios, driver tablets, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Performs video retrieval, storage, video system installation, operation, and troubleshooting.

* Provides Customer Service support by phone and email to department and campus staff requesting bus video.

* Maintains inventory of buses with video systems and equipment inventory of video recording and playback equipment.

* Maintains a library of digital videos held in suspense and delivers videos via network to district administrative personnel and law enforcement officials upon request.

* Manages transportation video file access, software, and system upgrades.

* Assists in the administration of hardware, software, and peripheral applications throughout the Department in collaboration with Division of Technology.

* Collaborates with outside vendors to troubleshoot technological issues with equipment and software.

* Makes basic repairs to broken or damaged technology equipment, along with repairs to faulty installations.

* Installs, evaluates, and removes transportation technology systems and components.
• Trains designated staff/drivers on all bus technology systems.

* Travels to various District bus lots to carry out assigned responsibilities.
• Assists with school bus routes as needed to support the operational needs of the department.

Safety

* Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.

* Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

* Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
