Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continuous access for customers. As a Network Deployment Technician, you will help build and maintain a Cloud Computing Infrastructure across data center and colocation sites in the Americas. The role may involve working independently and requires excellent communication.
Key job responsibilities- Installation of routers, switches, and DWDM hardware.
- Assist in troubleshooting fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Create colocation remote hand requests for new capacity installations.
- Support project leads to deliver network capacity projects.
- Help resolve data center and facility issues.
- Support small- to mid‑size network deployment projects.
- Build relationships with internal and partner teams.
- Participate in site audits to ensure safety and quality meet AWS standards.
- Provide status updates to stakeholders via internal tools.
- Physical Requirements:
lift and rack equipment up to 40 lbs; may work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines. - Travel: up to 50% of the time; primarily local, with possible domestic and international travel.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ year of computer networking experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
