Position Description
Valiant Solutions is seeking a Security Compliance Policy and Guide Writer to join our rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team.
You will document operational reference and security compliance documentation for a large government client, including agency policies, technical baselines, and enterprise‑level compliance.
Qualifications- 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for IT solutions, including operational guides and compliance documentation
- 5+ years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering or related field OR two additional years of professional experience in lieu of degree
- Proficient understanding of NIST special publications, FISMA, and other federal laws and regulations, and ability to translate them into policy
- Ability to research and apply Federal regulations, laws, and guidance in policy, technical guides, and procedural guides
- Experience using Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs) a plus
- Working knowledge of IT standards and frameworks, at least NIST and ISO
- Ensure all agency documents align with FISMA, Executive Orders, OMB Memoranda, NIST publications, and internal security guidance
- Interface with federal employees and contractors to perform required activities
- Assist in presenting updates and status of deliverables to the client
- Develop spreadsheets for tracking FISMA metrics, assessment tests, and maintain Google Forms
- Gather and write technical documents for installation, operation, and maintenance of information systems in clear, concise language
- Ensure documents are written in a format understandable by technical and non‑technical personnel
- Ensure documentation appropriately references organizational policies
- Perform quality assurance reviews and edit applicable materials
- Collaborate with stakeholders on new products and services and improve existing documentation
- Ensure conformance to IT standards and recommend scope changes as needed
- Work with system owners and SMEs to understand existing and planned technologies and standards
- Write or edit documentation for reports, manuals, briefings, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, software and hardware documentation
- Utilize project management tools such as Trello or Jira to manage and track tasks

Remote work requires a high level of trust. Employees who telecommute must maintain a quiet workspace, reliable internet, and availability during core business hours that align with coworkers and clients. Cameras are encouraged and may be required during virtual conferences. Employees must disclose outside employment and obtain written approval. Outside business must not be conducted during core hours.
