Enterprise Architect
The Enterprise Architect defines and evolves BKV's enterprise technology strategy to support a cloud-first, acquisition-driven energy production business. This role shapes scalable, secure, and cost-effective platforms that enable growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and repeatable integration of acquired entities.
This position establishes architecture standards and governance, aligns business priorities with technology execution, and partners across corporate, operational, and field environments to drive consistent, high-quality delivery.
It is a hands-on strategic role that blends enterprise-level vision with practical architecture and delivery support.
Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business strategy.
- Lead cloud-first architecture strategy (Azure/AWS/Google), ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost optimization.
- Establish reference architectures, design standards, and integration patterns.
- Govern technology selection and rationalization to reduce redundancy and technical debt.
- Ensure secure-by-design principles across all systems.
- Define enterprise application strategy (ERP, land systems, accounting, SCADA/OT integration, regulatory systems).
- Lead master data and data governance strategy.
- Promote API-first and integration-platform strategies.
- Support analytics, reporting, and operational data visibility initiatives.
- Establish Architecture Review Board (ARB).
- Define decision-making frameworks and technical standards.
- Drive lifecycle management and cloud cost governance.
- Balance agility with appropriate controls for a fast-growing organization.
- Partner with Security to embed security controls in all architectural designs.
- Ensure architecture aligns with regulatory and compliance requirements (SOX, SOC 2, NERC CIP where applicable).
- Reduce enterprise risk through modernization and standardization.
- Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership.
- Translate business strategy into technology capability models.
- Support budgeting and long-range technology planning.
- Provide guidance on emerging technologies relevant to oil & gas (automation, AI, digital field, predictive maintenance).
M&A Technology Integration
- Lead IT due diligence for acquisitions.
- Assess application portfolios, infrastructure posture, security risks, and integration complexity.
- Develop integration roadmaps to rapidly onboard acquired companies into corporate platforms.
- Drive system consolidation, identity integration, data integration, and cost synergies and cost savings.
- Establish repeatable acquisition playbooks.
Required Skills
- Enterprise architecture experience, including operating models, standards, and governance (e.g., reference architectures, decision records, architecture reviews).
- Cloud platform architecture expertise in at least one major provider (Azure or AWS preferred), including landing zones, networking, identity, and resiliency patterns.
- Security-by-design knowledge (IAM, segmentation, encryption, logging/monitoring) and ability to partner with security teams to implement controls and reduce risk.
- Application and SaaS evaluation skills (ERP/finance, HRIS, CRM), including fit-gap analysis, vendor due diligence, and total cost of ownership.
- Integration architecture experience (API-first, eventing, ETL/ELT, iPaaS/middleware) and ability to define reusable patterns and integration governance.
- Data architecture and governance fundamentals, including master data concepts, data quality, lineage, and reporting/analytics enablement.
- Working knowledge of OT/IT integration considerations (e.g., SCADA/historians, network segmentation, availability/safety constraints) in asset-intensive environments.
- Experience supporting acquisitions and integrations (due diligence inputs, Day 1/Day 2 planning, and repeatable onboarding playbooks).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence without authority and translate business needs into actionable roadmaps and architecture decisions.

Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience across infrastructure, applications, and/or data domains.
- 5+ years in enterprise, solution, or platform architecture roles, delivering standards, reference architectures, and roadmaps.
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, or asset-intensive industries.
- Experience integrating acquisitions or leading large-scale system consolidations.
