Position SummaryOur client is seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to lead the organization's technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud environment, vendor relationships, and IT operations.
This is not a traditional executive-level IT role focused solely on strategy and delegation. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable in boardroom discussions and technical architecture reviews, combining strategic leadership with deep technical expertise across infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will lead a collaborative team while driving technology initiatives that support the organization’s ongoing operations, security, and future growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Technology Leadership
- Develop and execute the organization's IT strategy and long-term technology roadmap.
- Partner with executive leadership to align technology investments with business objectives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Lead technology planning, budgeting, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Own the organization's cybersecurity strategy, governance, and execution.
- Ensure protection of business-critical systems, networks, and data assets.
- Develop and maintain security policies, controls, compliance initiatives, and incident response plans.
- Continuously assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks across the enterprise.
Infrastructure, Networking & Cloud Operations
- Provide technical leadership for a complex infrastructure environment supporting 29 interconnected buildings.
- Oversee enterprise networking, WAN connectivity, fiber infrastructure, wireless networks, and hybrid cloud architecture.
- Manage Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Azure, and on-premises systems.
- Evaluate and implement infrastructure improvements that improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
Security Systems & Physical Technology
- Oversee one of the region's largest private security camera environments consisting of more than 500 cameras and petabytes of retained video data.
- Lead strategic initiatives involving video surveillance platforms, cloud storage solutions, AI-enabled camera technologies, and infrastructure optimization.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to balance security, performance, scalability, and cost.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, consultants, and strategic partners.
- Lead major infrastructure projects, system upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations.
- Negotiate contracts and evaluate vendor performance to maximize business value and operational effectiveness.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a highly cross-functional IT team consisting of network engineers, systems engineers, developers, and analysts.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture where team members support one another across disciplines.
- Establish priorities, manage workloads, and drive accountability while encouraging professional growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience leading enterprise infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud environments.
- Strong expertise with:
- Microsoft 365
- Cybersecurity operations and governance
- Infrastructure modernization
- Experience managing technology vendors and strategic technology partnerships.
- Demonstrated success leading complex technical projects from planning through execution.
- Strong understanding of physical technology infrastructure, including security systems and surveillance platforms.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on and technically engaged.
- Experience supporting real estate, property management, hospitality, mixed-use developments, municipalities, or similarly distributed environments.
- Experience with enterprise video management systems such as Milestone.
- Knowledge of large-scale cloud storage environments and AI-enabled security technologies.
