This is a grant-funded position and is contingent on availability of funds.

Position Purpose

The Coordinator of Translation and Interpretation Services is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, quality assurance, and delivery of translation and interpretation services that ensure access to district programs, services, communications, and information for students, families, and community members whose primary language is not English.

This position manages translation and interpretation systems, coordinates internal and external language service providers, supports district compliance with federal, state, and district requirements related to language access, and ensures that translated materials and interpretation services are provided in a timely, accurate, and culturally responsible manner.

Essential Job Functions
  • Supports district wide language access initiatives by coordinating translation and interpretation services for students, families, campuses, departments, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinates the preparation, review, and delivery of translated documents, including parent communications, instructional materials, forms, legal documents, district publications, and other materials requiring language access support.
  • Reviews translated materials for accuracy, grammar, syntax, and consist with district standards.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors systems for tracking translation requests, interpretation requests, service delivery, and program outcomes.
  • Maintains electronic and paper records of translation and interpretation services and produces reports as needed to support program monitoring and compliance.
  • Coordinates and schedules interpretation for district meetings, events, trainings, parent meetings, and community engagement activities.
  • Oversees and supports interpretation activities in multiple languages, including coordination of equipment and logistical requirements when applicable.
  • Identifies, recruits, trains, and maintains a pool of qualified internal and external translators and interpreters to support district services.
  • Coordinates with approved vendors and contractors to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost-effective delivery of language access services.
  • Administers language proficiency assessments for district employees and maintains records related to employee language qualifications and certifications.
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and district requirements and expectations related to language access and communication with multilingual families.
  • Provides guidance and support to district departments and campuses regarding translation and interpretation procedures, timelines, and best practices.
  • Supports family engagement efforts by ensuring multilingual families have equitable access to district communications, services, programs, and resources.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and availability, including extended or adjusted work hours during peak compliance periods, monitoring cycles, and critical deadlines, to ensure timely and accurate execution of responsibilities.
Safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
