Q Investments, a multi‑billion‑dollar private investment firm and family office located in Fort Worth, Texas, is seeking an Assistant General Counsel. The firm manages a diverse portfolio that includes a $500 million hedge fund, a $3 billion bank, a $400 million real‑estate investment firm, a billion‑dollar helicopter company, and a $275 million charitable foundation. This high‑profile role offers direct interaction with senior leadership, robust compensation comparable to top Big Law firms, 12.5 days of PTO, and 5–10 work‑from‑home days, with a normal schedule of 50–60 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Work directly with the founder, senior partners, and executive staff on complex legal issues from strategic and tactical perspectives.
- Structure, negotiate, and implement various transactions and investments, including publicly traded securities, syndicated bank loans, swaps, real‑estate transactions, and U.S. and foreign private‑market investments.
- Collaborate with the hedge fund, the bank, the real‑estate lending arm, and operating companies on various projects.
- Assist with regulatory and compliance matters.
- Co‑ordinate with outside litigators on complex litigation matters.
- Oversee a team of top attorneys across M&A, securities, corporate, partnership, tax, employment, bankruptcy, and litigation practices.
- Help the founding partner with complex trust and estate plans, ensuring regular updates and alignment with evolving priorities.
- Structure large charitable grants (up to $25 million) to major research institutions.
- Graduated from a top 15 law school within the last 1–3 years.
- LSAT score of 170+.
- 3.75 GPA.
- Important position on law review or an equivalent organization.
- Outstanding undergraduate academic record.
- Some Texas connection (e.g., lived, studied, worked, or family ties in Texas).
