Job Overview
The Procurement Buyer (II / Senior) will be responsible for purchasing ingredients and packaging to meet production needs, maintaining adequate inventory levels for assigned vendors, managing inventory turns and reducing product spoilage. Must be well organized, detail focused and well able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
ResponsibilitiesPurchase inventory items of assigned suppliers to ensure target service level metrics, turns and spoilage goals are achieved.
Review daily potential out-of-stocks and take appropriate action for quick recovery.
Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimum levels.
Follow through on all open orders for status to ensure on-time delivery and expedite as needed.
Work with the warehouse to resolve any receiving or damage issues on receipts.
Monitor supplier performance and take proactive steps to ensure highest levels of performance from all suppliers are met.
Process vendor bill backs when necessary for vendor support on inventory or freight.
Utilize report systems to analyze results and identify opportunities for increased sales and profit.
Analyze inventory variances, cycle counts, aged inventory levels to determine opportunities for savings and efficiencies.
Analyze results of purchasing decisions on a macro and micro level.
Act as a key contact to purchasing stakeholders across the business.
Aid in the collection of competitive intelligence from bids and competitor price lists to support decision making.
Quickly recognizes functional system issues and performs the steps needed to solve the issue as quickly and effectively as possible.
Any other duties as assigned.
QualificationsWhat we need from you:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' of relevant work experience.
Must have experience in a Manufacturing environment.
User proficiency in a ERP system, demand forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory analysis.
Preference for food processing organization background.
Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Skilled in presenting information or ideas concisely, accurately, and clearly verbally and in writing.
Skilled in analyzing and documenting simple and complex business processes.
Skilled in communication with a focus on listening and influencing skills.
Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
Ability to read and understand detailed documents and technical manuals.
Ability to anticipate business emerging needs.
What you'll receive from us:
Salary within the range of $90,000 - $125,000, depending on experience*
