Responsibilities
- Supervise the health, safety and distribution activities of all assigned hourly associates in the DC
- Conduct daily start up meetings and discuss all updates pertaining to safety, orders/priorities for the next day and results from previous day
- Schedule and lead monthly safety meeting and safety topic engagement
- Conduct safety brief and morning warm up routine
- Monitor and log attendance. Escalate employee relations issues to DC Manager and HR as appropriate
- Lead work requirements on floor to exceed customer expectations as measured within given KPI’s
- Redirect and position resources as needed to achieve high DIFOT results
- Ensure the Distribution Center and assigned work areas are kept organized and clean
- Request the use of temporary labor during peak times of operation or for special projects to meet requirements
- Assist Distribution Center Manager in handling other issues that may arise as directed
- Coordinate with HR Generalist on all related onboarding and offboarding needs
- Ensure newly hired associates complete all required training and report completion rate
- Assess and resolve issues relating to vendor compliance, import/export activities, and logistics systems
- Maintain accurate logistics data for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including KPIs, vendor performance, transportation metrics, and service levels
- Partner cross-functionally with Purchasing, Customer Service, Planning, and Warehouse Operations to create effective inbound and outbound schedules
- Serve as the liaison between customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams
- Research and facilitate customs compliance inquiries, including tariff codes and USMCA requirements
- Troubleshoot operational flow interruptions impacting inbound and outbound material movement
- Ensure shipping procedures comply with all safety standards, DOT regulations, hazmat requirements, and company policies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on transportation efficiency, shipping accuracy, dock utilization, labor productivity, and cost reduction
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement corrective actions using Lean methodologies and root cause problem-solving techniques
- Support and participate in Kaizen events, process mapping activities, and standard work development
- Develop and monitor logistics KPIs, including on-time delivery, freight cost, dock-to-stock timing, shipment accuracy, carrier performance, and inventory flow efficiency
- Analyze trends and operational data to identify opportunities for waste elimination and improved operational performance
- Proactively communicate shipment information, including delays, shortages, route changes, or expedited deliveries to internal and external customers
- Stay informed on logistics industry trends, transportation regulations, and best practices while identifying opportunities for operational enhancement
- Analyze vendor invoices and freight charges against contracted rates to ensure billing accuracy and cost control
- Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound shipment schedules to optimize operational flow
- Maintain organized documentation and provide reports to internal stakeholders and customers as required
- Lead associate development through coaching, training, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Support associate engagement initiatives while reinforcing the company's core values and continuous improvement culture
- Monitor team and individual performance while establishing clear expectations and measurable goals
- Motivate and develop team members to perform efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational discipline through daily communication and performance management
- Support warehouse operational initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned
- Associates degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or Business Equivalent
- 2-5 years experience in lead or supervisor role within a distribution environment
- Understand Distribution material flow requirements and be able to execute in a very action-oriented manner
