POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Buyer at PTR plays a critical leadership role in the strategic sourcing and purchasing of production parts across all locations. This senior-level position involves leading supplier relationships, developing procurement strategies, and optimizing supply chain processes while also providing leadership and direction to a team of Buyers.

This role will require periodic travel to PTR locations to support operations, align procurement strategies, strengthen supplier partnerships, and ensure inventory and purchasing standards are consistently executed company wide.

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for high-level negotiations, cost optimization, inventory ownership, supplier performance management, and team development.

COMPENSATION

This position offers a competitive compensation package, benchmarked to regional market standards. It consists of a base salary plus the opportunity for quarterly profit sharing after one year of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies while negotiating pricing, terms, and service agreements.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, delivery, and overall performance.
  • Resolve supplier issues, including quality concerns, returns, engineering changes, and delivery challenges.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
Team Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers, setting clear performance expectations and driving accountability.
  • Facilitate team meetings to align purchasing priorities, forecasting, and operational objectives.
  • Oversee purchasing activities and collaborate with Production, Warehouse, Service, and Operations to ensure timely execution.
Inventory & Data Management
  • Own inventory strategy across multiple locations, maintaining optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and inventory analysis.
  • Maintain accurate master data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and procurement records to support operational excellence.
Forecasting & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with internal teams and suppliers to forecast demand and align purchasing with production schedules and business needs.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency, inventory performance, and cost savings.
  • Travel to PTR locations as needed to support inventory audits, supplier reviews, and operational alignment.
REQUIREMENTS MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or strategic sourcing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience leading and developing purchasing or supply chain teams.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, including demand forecasting, safety stock, replenishment strategies, ABC analysis, and inventory optimization.
  • Proven success in negotiating supplier agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to support multiple locations.
