Job SummaryJOB SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for executing day-to-day purchasing activities for direct and indirect materials and services. This includes creating purchase orders (POs), monitoring delivery schedules, resolving supplier delays, and contributing to supplier performance evaluations. The role works cross-functionally with Parts, Service, Rental, Used Equipment, Fleet, and Sales to ensure material availability aligns with operational needs. The ideal candidate is analytical and data-driven with strong communication skills and a focus on driving cost savings and limiting purchase price variance (PPV).
The Buyer also supports supplier sourcing as an advisor and partner in supplier development.
- Create accurate and timely purchase orders for direct and indirect materials and services.
- Monitor open POs to identify and mitigate delays that may impact availability.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met or corrected quickly.
- Provide data and insight to support supplier scorecards and performance reviews.
- Participate in supplier sourcing and selection as a subject matter advisor.
- Analyze purchase price variances and support efforts to reduce overall procurement costs.
- Maintain purchasing data integrity within the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
- Collaborate with Procurement leadership on cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with operational demands.
- Track and report on procurement KPIs, including on-time delivery, PPV, and supplier responsiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally in a multi-departmental environment.
- ERP experience required;
Microsoft Dynamics preferred. - Experience with procurement analytics and reporting tools is a plus.
- Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Positive attitude, team player, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High emotional IQ and the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills preferred.

Physical Demands: Office work typically involves sitting for long periods and tasks like typing or using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, or lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. The work environment is climate-controlled with moderate noise.
Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal conditions.
