Job Summary

Manages Utility fleet operations by applying in-depth technical and operational knowledge to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective vehicle management. Solves complex problems by taking new perspectives using existing solutions and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Works independently with minimal guidance to forecast fleet needs, manage vendor relationships, and improve asset utilization. Represents the department in cross‑functional meetings, influencing policies and procedures to enhance fleet performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assesses the company’s fleet management needs, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance schedules, and compliance, to ensure effective and efficient fleet operations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Assists in the management of complex fleet operations, overseeing daily activities, and ensuring resources are properly allocated to maximize efficiency, safety, and operational success.
  • Utilize processes to monitor fleet performance, ensuring vehicles are maintained, tracked, and utilized efficiently, while reducing operational costs and downtime.
  • Optimize systems to maximize fleet usage, including GPS tracking, maintenance scheduling, and fuel management systems, improving overall operational effectiveness and cost‑efficiency.
  • Develops more complex reports and analytics, analyzing fleet data to identify trends, forecast needs, and provide recommendations for optimizing the fleet’s performance.
  • Confers with key stakeholders, including senior management, procurement, and logistics teams, to ensure the fleet meets operational needs and compliance standards.
  • Forecasts fleet needs based on business growth, market conditions, and industry trends, contributing to the strategic planning of future vehicle acquisitions and fleet expansions.
  • Coaches less experienced team members on fleet management best practices, fostering their growth and ensuring the successful execution of fleet‑related tasks.
  • Delivers training and guidance on fleet management software, compliance regulations, and safety protocols, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage the fleet effectively.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
