Wolf Steel continues to raise the bar in the metal building industry and we’re growing again!
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager who understands that profit is built before the job ever starts.
This role is not about placing orders. It’s about controlling margins, strengthening buying power, and building the supply chain that fuels a $45M+ company.
You will work closely with our Construction Director and Executive Team to control Cost of Goods Sold, negotiate strong vendor relationships, and build systems that allow us to scale without leaks.
This is primarily an office‑based role, with hybrid opportunities to connect with suppliers, attend industry conventions, inspect material quality, and evaluate warehouse capacity and inventory management.

A Day in the Life of a Purchasing Manager- Workdays:
Monday–Friday (occasional vendor meetings or site visits as needed) - Hours:
8AM–5PM (Central), additional time as required based on workload - Report directly to the Construction Director
- Control and improve Cost of Goods Sold to help us reach targeted profit margins
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and volume agreements with suppliers and vendors
- Oversee labor negotiations with subcontractors/vendors to secure quality work at competitive pricing
- Manage and develop the current Procurement Team in place
- Manage material purchasing and delivery logistics
- Select and qualify subcontractors alongside Coordinators
- Oversee and refine the 3‑bid system for vendors and subcontractors
- Manage the Procurement Team for pricing out standard, custom, and specialty projects
- Source and introduce new vendors, subcontractors, and innovative products
- Create systems for launching new product lines and trade scopes (training, launch, etc.)
- Review warehouse capacity and inventory strategy to improve buying power and efficiency
- 3+ years of experience in construction cost awareness, procurement of materials, or construction control
- A negotiator who understands both relationship‑building and leverage
- Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers
- Understands margins, volume pricing, and cost analysis

- $75,000 – $110,000+ (based on experience, negotiable)
