Railroad Grade Crossing Engineering - Manager of Special Projects

Location

This role can be based in one of our Railroad Division offices. Remote flexibility may be considered for the right candidate. Travel will be required to support project and client needs.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Lead and direct assigned railroad grade crossing programs and public infrastructure projects with full ownership of scope, schedule, and budget
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to Public Project Managers and technical staff
  • Oversee development and revisions of project work plans to ensure alignment with client expectations and company strategy
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and accounting reports
  • Serve as the chief liaison between clients, subconsultants, and internal teams
  • Lead contract negotiations and participate in resolving conflicts during project development and construction
  • Review and coordinate design details, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Ensure survey activities, documentation management, and quality control plans are properly executed
  • Review and verify invoices and expense reports for accuracy and contract compliance
  • Follow up with clients regarding invoice collection and maintain financial accountability
  • Establish and maintain the project Quality Management Plan
  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and resources are properly allocated and maintained
  • Comply with all company and project safety standards
  • This role requires strong business acumen, sound decision‑making, and the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple teaming partners and agencies.
What You Will Need
  • Demonstrated competency at the Public Project Manager II level or equivalent
  • Proven experience directing complex public infrastructure or railroad‑related projects
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and mentoring professional staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Primavera
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry practices
  • Ability to manage accounting reports, budgets, and financial performance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage client expectations and navigate difficult conversations
  • High school diploma required; AAS or BS degree preferred
  • Active participation in professional and technical societies encouraged
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with a safe motor vehicle record
Pay Range

$135,000 — $160,000 USD
