POSITION OBJECTIVEResponsible for overseeing and administering the day-to-day lending operations of the Credit Union. Ensures members receive prompt, professional service while training, directing, and supervising lending department staff to maintain efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.
DUTIES Department Leadership & Supervision- Oversee the effective and efficient performance of the Lending Department.
- Supervise staff schedules and workflow; approve all Personal Time Off for lending staff.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports and provide quarterly follow-ups on goals and progress.
- Recommend, document, and implement corrective or improvement actions when necessary.
- Ensure lending practices comply with Credit Union policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Review, update, and maintain lending policies and procedures for accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Periodically audit loan files, documentation, titles, drafts, notices, and maintenance histories for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure loan records are properly maintained, organized, and readily accessible in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Receive, review, and process loan applications and documentation.
- Analyze credit reports and supporting documentation to approve, deny, or negotiate loan requests within established guidelines.
- Provide ongoing training and guidance to lending and collections staff.
- Ensure staff effectively cross-sell loan products and ancillary services, including Credit Life/Disability, GAP, MRC, Dent Guard, Collateral Protection Insurance, and EZ Car Finder.
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual lending reports.
- Oversee retention efforts within the Lending Department.
- Coordinate and complete annual 1099-C reporting.
- Assist with collection efforts and provide recommendations on late-stage delinquency actions, including charge-offs, repossessions, and CPI coverage.
- Develop and recommend strategies to expand lending programs, including consumer loans, credit cards, and mortgages.
- Coordinate lending-related marketing and promotional activities.
- Keep management informed of lending performance, progress toward goals, and any significant issues or risks.
- Uphold and project the Credit Union’s commitment to quality, professionalism, and member service.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve lending operations, efficiency, and productivity.
- Ensure prudent safety practices are followed at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports directly to the Branch Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- Minimum of five (5) years of lending experience or a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Thorough understanding of Credit Union loan products, policies, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of applicable lending laws and regulations.
