Primary Purpose of this Position:

Plant Human Resources Manager, manages the plant human resources function as directed.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents as required.
  • Support development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
  • Provide administration and supervision of the plant human resources function as directed.
  • Provide and maintain plant personnel policies and procedures in accordance with plant, group, and corporate guidelines.
  • Administer wage, salary, and benefit programs in the plant in accordance with group and corporate policies.
  • Ensure plant staffing needs are met by managing succession planning, recruiting, selection, and placement of candidates for plant positions.
  • Ensure all pre‑employment requirements such as interviews, physical examinations, drug tests, background checks, and reference checks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employment practices and procedures in compliance with governmental regulations and laws, including EEOC, ADA, Civil Rights Act, and affirmative action plans.
  • Oversee Workers Compensation investigations and related programs.
  • Coordinate training programs and track results.
  • Maintain plant personnel records including promotions, merit reviews, disciplinary actions, and policy implementation.
  • Provide effective new employee orientation programs.
  • Develop and monitor employee relations programs to maintain a climate of trust and confidence.
  • Develop and enforce plant safety rules and regulations in accordance with plant, group, and corporate guidelines and governmental laws.
  • Identify, develop, and implement human resource processes to ensure operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Administer the collective bargaining agreement and address union-related issues such as grievance resolution and arbitration (if applicable).
  • Prepare for and participate in collective bargaining (if applicable).
  • Maintain positive relations with union officials (if applicable).
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
  • Initiate, review, master, and follow all standard operating procedures for the area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and commit resources for all emergency response measures as identified in the facility’s contingency plan.
  • Effectively communicate with federal, state, and local authorities as required.
  • Advise the environmental manager or environmental focal point on all environmental management activities.
  • Maintain an employee relations climate of trust and confidence, especially during third‑party interference situations or with union stewards and representatives.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company.
  • Work a regular 5‑day schedule, with potential weekend work and overtime as required, and be available on call as directed.
  • Execute administrative activities necessary for effective management, including selection, development, salary budgeting, employee safety and counseling.
  • Comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental requirements and attend scheduled training sessions.
  • Communicate with the emergency coordinator or environmental focal point regarding environmental management activities.
  • Respond to emergency procedures and duties as directed by the emergency coordinator, environmental focal point, or manager.
  • Maintain environmental documentation and report status to the emergency coordinator or environmental focal point.
  • Adhere to job safety practices, policies, and procedures specified by plant and corporate directives.
  • Identify waste streams and minimize waste generation through proper disposal, segregation, and storage as directed.
  • Comply with environmental regulations when handling hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and waste.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience.
