Position
Purpose:
Responsible for planning, supervising, and managing security operations on a 24-hour basis to assure a high level of physical security of the buildings, equipment, and properties of the District. Manages all safety and security operations including responding to criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, hazardous incidents, potentially violent incidents, auto accidents, and others. Collaborates and coordinates with appropriate staff and emergency response organizations to ensure that situations are appropriately addressed and expectations for security and personal safety are achieved.
Responsible for management of district wide video surveillance and access control system. Supervises full-time and part-time employees and a significant number of contracted workers.
- Supervises, monitors, trains, and assesses the performance of District security staff and contract security staff.
- Serves as a liaison to courts, Fort Worth and other City Police Departments to include developing School Resource Officer contracts, as well as youth-serving agencies.
- Responds to calls from area schools to assist in dealing with law and policy violations, safety and security issues, and crisis situations.
- Supervises and manages activities for all Area Advisors, Director I of Campus Safety, Director II of Law Enforcement, Director I of Campus Security Systems, and Emergency Management Coordinator.
- Oversees metal detector training for all responsible staff in the District.
- Responsible for K-9 intervention program and coordinates all metal detector operations.
- Responsible for communication and provides direction of campus police activities.
- Provides timely informative presentations to school level administrators, Cabinet staff and School Board.
- Manages 24-hour Safety & Security video surveillance and security dispatchers and after-hours response to school threats.
- Responsible for completion and presentation of statistical reports to leadership.
- Understands and interprets District policies.
- Responsible for adherence to State Mandated Security Audits and district emergency operation plans.
- Directs and manages the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies and priorities.
- Establishes appropriate service and staffing levels; monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; and allocates resources accordingly.
- Responds to escalated citizen and community complaints and follows-up on issues to ensure responses are communicated and action is taken.
- Leads the development and administration of the department budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; approves expenditures; and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary.
- Keeps Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent apprised of all priority and emergency issues.
Ensures staff members perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition. Ensures staff members follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; ensures staff members operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.
