The Director, Integrated Operations Center is responsible for the oversight, leadership and performance of personnel within the IOC while ensuring a safe, efficient, and coordinated operation across the American Airlines network. In addition to developing clearly defined strategies to make the American Airlines operation best in class, the position will seek to elevate the experience of our customers and team members.

- Leads and serves a large and complex organization through management leaders, individual contributors, and front-line team members
- Monitors potential influence of weather, aircraft mechanical problems, air traffic control constraints, fuel supplies, security issues, labor problems, or other sources of disruption to the overall airline operation
- Establishes the Airline’s strategy and objectives ahead of irregular operations and ensures activities are carried out in accordance with the operating plan
- Collaborates and partners closely with Airport Operations, Cargo, Flight, Flight Service, Technical Operations, Safety, and Regional Partners to ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with FAA Regulations and American Airlines company policies
- Ensures AA remains in compliance with all governmental requirements, e.g. OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation, through the development and implementation of procedures
- Advocates for passenger’s interests to satisfy DOT 259 Enhanced Protections for Airline Passengers regulations
- Leads emergency response efforts that occur on the day-of operation.
- Works collaboratively with Corporate Security staff to evaluate security threats and implements appropriate courses of action.
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement; provides recommendations and implements initiatives to reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and improve customer service and employee experience
- Demonstrates and cultivates collaborative relationships across all work groups and teams
- Establishes and maintains open communication and a collaborative relationship with all levels of union leadership
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation, or Technical Field related to Aviation or equivalent experience/training
- 7 years of experience leading large teams in technical operations, integrated operations control, airport operations, or cargo, including unionized frontline work groups
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications
- Demonstrates the highest standards or personal ethics and integrity
- In-depth knowledge of the airline industry and technical operations, American Airlines (AA) business strategy, company policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements
- Strong technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, as well as FAA policies, practices, and procedures
- Extensive experience implementing procedures and ensuring consistent service delivery
- Ability to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Ability to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural aptitude for engaging employees across multiple work groups
