Juvenile Services Coordinator
Coordinate and supervise intake and field service probation officers or specialized program probation officers. Provide guidance and support as necessary and carry out probation officer job functions in their absence. Ensure Court directives and department policies are achieved. Participate in the development of department policies and procedures and problem solving activities and oversee the delivery of services to the clients under the Department's supervision.
May supervise interns and oversee grants and departmental contracts. Expected to communicate and collaborate with interagency and interstate compact professionals. Ensure compliance with Texas Juvenile Justice Department(TJJD) guidelines.
Provides in service training for intake, court, field service and specialized program affairs. Assigns cases to the probation officers. Conducts case audits while reviewing and documenting the progress of all current cases. Assists in developing case management plans. Ensures that necessary data is collected for forecasting, statistics and program evaluation. Ensures court reports are properly prepared for Court. Serves as liaison between the Juvenile Probation Department and the Courts, Social Service Agencies, Law Enforcement Agencies, Schools, and other professional disciplines.
Evaluates employees and formulates plans for improvement of performance. Provides coverage and ancillary support for staff absences. Participates in departmental planning meetings and various work groups to develop programs and policy and procedures. Serves on inter-departmental investigative team to address allegations of abuse and neglect. Coordinates internship program; may supervise and train interns performing student placement through area college and university programs.
Provides evaluation and feedback. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of Juvenile Services as assigned or required.
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years casework experience.
- Eligibility for certification by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and Auto Liability Insurance.
- Knowledge of applicable statutes.
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift. Potential exists for interaction with unpredictable and potentially violent clients, families and general public.
