Department SummaryThe University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNT Health) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Genetics.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished scientist and academic leader to guide one of UNT Health's most collaborative and research‑intensive departments at a time of remarkable institutional momentum. As UNT Health continues to invest in biomedical discovery, translational science, simulation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the next Chair will play a central role in advancing research, developing faculty, preparing future scientists, and shaping the department's long‑term strategic direction.
Position OverviewReporting to the Dean of the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences, the Chair will provide academic, scientific, and administrative leadership for a department recognized for its strengths in microbiology, immunology, genetics, cancer biology, and translational research. The successful candidate will maintain an active, externally funded research program while fostering a collaborative culture that supports innovation, mentorship, educational excellence, and scientific discovery.
This is far more than a traditional department chair position.
