Job Description
The Freight Brokerage Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for operating and supporting a portfolio of new and existing customers through the development of transportation providers. Develop a carrier coverage strategy and have full autonomy for supporting a customer’s transportation coverage needs. Directly engage with cross functional teams as needed to build a network of service providers that allows them the ability to foster an effective customer relationship.
EssentialFunctions
- Develop relationships with transportation providers to maximize penetration of customer freight portfolio through soliciting capacity
- Leads small group of SMA's as a mentor. Supports all parties with carrier related issues as needed. Staffing performance management and development of SMAs to ensure established performance goals within the team
- Tenders accept/reject loads, creates loads, sets appointments, dispatches, tracks and traces loads, root cause problem solves issues, and resolves/communicates to carrier and/or customer as appropriate
- Negotiate rates with transportation providers to ensure that margins are achieved for commission targets and account goals
- Manage day-to-day planning and scheduling of coverage for loads to ensure proper all customer’s needs are met in the agreed upon time period
- Continuous improvement in all segments of the business
- Schedules and dispatches while ensuring compliance of Federal, State, and Local regulations. Responsible for timely updating of load statuses to the TMS.
- Maintain a positive employee related climate and maintain a customer satisfaction index at a World Class Level while having availability 24/7/365 for responsibilities
