Description:
Work Performed from blueprints, Bell Process Specifications, drawings or written specifications, performing layouts and preparing parts or articles composed of like or unlike materials for the pressure bonding process. Plans operations and performs assembling, fitting, and trimming as required, applies liquid or solid bonding agents. Uses production aids such as jigs, fixtures and hand tools. Checks work to ensure proper bonding agent selection, correct assembly and fitting, and places articles in a pressure furnace.
Controls heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating furnace controls according to material and bonding agent specifications. Maintains close watch over furnace controls during bonding to ensure a successful bond and to prevent damage to articles. Checks articles when finished. Responsible for safe operation of equipment.
- Operate from blueprints, process specifications, drawings, or written instructions to prepare and assemble parts for bonding.
- Apply bonding agents (liquid or solid) and use jigs, fixtures, and hand tools as required.
- Verify proper bonding agent selection, correct assembly and fitting, and place articles in the pressure furnace.
- Set and monitor furnace conditions (heat, pressure, timing) per material and agent specifications.
- Monitor bonding process to ensure a quality bond and prevent damage to articles.
- Inspect finished articles and ensure safe operation of equipment.
- Two years metal fitting or forming experience, with at least one year in bonding work including operation of a pressure furnace, or two years Bell Material Bonder B or Material Bonder - I classification experience, or one year Bell Material Bonder B experience plus one year metal fitting/forming experience.
