Job Summary
Job Summary The maintenance scheduler is responsible for the efficient and effective scheduling of maintenance activities to optimize resource utilization and minimize operational disruption. Responsible for administering the maintenance work schedule via the CMMS system, coordinating labor resources and equipment availability and collaborating with the maintenance team and production. This role is critical to ensure accurate and timely completion of planned maintenance work, enhancing reliability, operational stability and overall plant productivity.
EssentialDuties
Promotes a safe and clean work environment where safety is the highest priority and embedded in our culture. Ensures all scheduled work incorporates required safety procedures, pre‑job safety assessments, and permits identified in the job plans.
Develops, maintains, and distributes daily, weekly, monthly, and long‑term maintenance schedules for mechanical and electrical technicians, incorporating preventive, predictive, corrective, and project‑related work orders.
Aligns work‑order priorities, resource availability and operational constraints to formulate an efficient and achievable work schedule while ensuring scheduling adheres to priority and completion dates, incorporating any planned backlog work orders.
Collaborates with key stakeholders (maintenance, production, engineering) to understand the scope of planned maintenance activities and production needs, mitigating downtime and output impact, and facilitates routine scheduling meetings to finalize schedules and address conflicts.
Coordinates and liaises with contractor activities on‑site into a master maintenance schedule, adjusting schedules as necessary in response to emergency repairs, changes in resource availability and/or operational upsets to minimize impact on planned maintenance activities.
Forecasts labor availability and skill requirements to guarantee adequate coverage for scheduled maintenance activities, allocating appropriate labor to work orders based on skills and availability, balancing workloads across trades to ensure adequate distribution, and ensuring all required tools and equipment are available.
Develops schedules at 80% of available man‑hours and ensures that maintenance supervision and craftsmen have job‑plan details in paper or digital format.
Communicates all approved maintenance schedules and changes, collaborates with maintenance planners to ensure seamless transition from planned to scheduled work, and provides feedback regarding issues or enhancements related to job‑plan accuracy, duration estimates, or resource requirements influencing scheduling.
Utilizes appropriate systems to build, update and communicate maintenance schedules, ensuring the system reflects current schedule status, resource assignments, and work‑order progress, maintaining data integrity and tracking/reporting on schedule compliance, resource utilization, backlog status, and other key scheduling performance indicators.
Understands how maintenance activities coordinate and interfere with work execution, collaborates with maintenance planner to adjust and rectify discrepancies in estimated labor vs actual labor usage for future work execution improvement.
High school diploma or GED.
Three or more years of demonstrated experience in a safety‑sensitive environment, preferably in a continuous manufacturing process.
Knowledge of critical path analysis.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, team player, ability to influence and lead others over whom one has no direct authority, willingness to drive continuous improvement and accept ideas and methods of others, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to work under limited supervision, make independent judgments and decisions as necessary, and excellent organizational skills.
