The CNC Machinist II is a mid‑level position responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC machine tools to manufacture precision parts. This role requires proficiency in reading technical drawings, performing inspections, troubleshooting machining issues, and ensuring quality standards are met in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC machine tools, including lathes and milling machines, to produce parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAM files, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform dimensional and attribute inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and go/no‑go gauges.
- Conduct first‑article inspections and adjust machining processes to maintain required tolerances.
- Troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions and perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production and quality concerns.
- Participate in all required meetings, training, and development activities.
- Ability to communicate, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and promptly follow verbal and written directions in English.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
- Ability to safely work in a manufacturing/shop environment with exposure to moving machinery and metal materials.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of CNC machining experience required.
- Experience operating CNC lathes and milling machines preferred.
- Basic knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and quality inspection methods.
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may require extended periods of standing, lifting, bending, and working around moving equipment. The CNC Machinist II must maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and production efficiency while meeting operational deadlines.
