Position Summary

Perform dimensional or mechanical inspection on a diversified line of aerospace components, including sub‑assemblies and assemblies, and conduct complex first article inspections to verify conformance to blueprints and engineering specifications. Ensure compliance with customer and company quality system specifications and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform quality review of documents such as purchase orders, routers, certifications, specifications, blueprints, and related documents.
  • Conduct final dimensional or mechanical inspection of parts, components, sub‑assemblies, and assemblies for conformance to blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Determine acceptance or rejection of products/components based on customer specifications.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vibrators, comparators, gauging equipment) to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Assist certified operators in devising dimensional gauging set‑ups and perform part layout inspections.
  • Process and complete required quality documentation before releasing product from quality inspection.
  • Perform and process complex first article inspections per AS 9102 and customer requirements.
  • Review first article packages and ensure current revisions are on file.
  • Ensure compliance with SPD and customer quality system requirements.
  • Review new or revised customer specifications for updates.
  • Advises manufacturing personnel of possible non‑conformities.
  • Verify proper labeling, identification, and packaging of parts for shipping, if required by customer.
  • Complete any required shipping documentation, if required by customer.
  • Act as customer’s agent on all product quality issues when certified as such.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge and skills to efficiently perform all assigned work and become proficient on new assignments.
  • Observe all company policies, safety rules, and maintain a clean, FOD‑free work area; uphold high ethical and quality standards.
  • Actively participate in lean/continuous improvement initiatives and provide suggestions.
  • Provide training or guidance to other inspectors and certified operators as required.
  • Process audits of test and assembly processes and interface with customer and government representatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of related quality inspection experience.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges.
  • Ability to pass vision and color vision tests.
  • Implement and apply lean/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, goal‑setting, performance feedback, and self‑development skills.
  • Work within precise accuracy limits and standards.
  • Knowledge of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Interpret reports and use job‑specific software; access employee self‑service systems and automated tools (e.g., Microsoft, TORS, CICS, email).
  • Communicate effectively with co‑workers, supervisors, managers, and customers; read and understand instructions and procedures.
  • Perform basic arithmetic and shop mathematics; interpret bar graphs.
  • Knowledge of applicable military standards or specifications.
  • Proficient in reading engineering blueprints, customer specifications, internal drawings, and procedures.
