RoleSummary
This is a high-impact role at the center ofWMI's operational transformation. The Process Engineer will design and optimize production and logistics processes, establish process controls, and lead continuous improvement across our operations. You will partner directly with Operations, Fabrication, Distribution, Maintenance, Quality, and Sales leadership to drive measurable gains in throughput, safety, and cost. This roleis ideal for someone who is equally comfortable on the shop floor and in frontof data, who understands that sustainable improvement requires both disciplined process design and strong relationships with the people doing the work.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze current-state processes and develop future-state workflows to improve throughput, safety, and quality.
- Design and implement process controls, standard work, andvisual management to reduce variation and waste.
- Lead continuous-improvement initiatives (5S/Lean/Kaizen),including data collection, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot bottlenecks and equipment/process issues in partnership with Maintenance and Production leaders.
- Build time studies and capacity models; recommend staffing, tooling, and layout changes to achieve takt/throughput targets.
- Partner with operational technology and data systems teamsto validate process data, support system requirements, and translate floor-level observations into actionable improvements.
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training materials; coach operators/supervisors on new standards.
- Partner with Quality to support audit readiness and adherence to applicable codes and customer requirements.
- Track results (OEE, scrap/rework, yield, cycle time) and present progress to plant leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, Industrial,Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Demonstrated experience in process design and processcontrol within manufacturing; steel or heavy fabrication experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with statistical methods and basic SPC.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities;hands‑on approach on the shop floor.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to influence without authority and train operators/supervisors.
- Exposure to Lean/6S, value‑stream mapping, andtime/capacity studies.
- Experience introducing new equipment or processes,including trials and PFMEA/Control Plan development.
- Understanding of steel service center/fabrication processes (cutting, forming, welding, material handling).
