Position: Structural Mechanic 3

Structural Mechanic 3 – Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation

Position located in Fort Worth, Texas. This role involves structural assembly operations, sheet metal fabrication, and rivet work on aircraft.

Position Purpose

In a team‑oriented work environment, under little to no supervision, Structural Mechanic III performs a variety of structural assembly operations using required tools and appropriate prints, specs and operational requirements to complete work assignments, ensuring conformance to specifications. All work is performed in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards, and should meet customer expectations. The engineer may assist and instruct other team members.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures and varied drilling and riveting operations; ensure parts/assembly meet requirements.
  • Safely perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft.
  • Move to new tasks with moderate short‑term impact to established goal hours and schedule.
  • Rivet structural members, assemblies and parts using all required tools.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type, size and hole pattern for rivets, cut and form plastics and follow SOP when using adhesives, sealants and solvents.
  • Check all work and ensure a defect‑free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Instruct and assist other team members in interpretation of blueprints, drawings and engineering orders; develop methods and shop aids to resolve production installation difficulties.
  • Maintain and use logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
  • Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners; shape and form complex angles according to blueprint specifications.
  • Make repairs per Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), Material Review Request (MRR), Production Change Orders (PCO) and perform necessary rework to ensure installations meet conformity.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, support the company 5S & Lean Initiative Program and comply with all safety regulations; use PPE as required.
Additional Functions
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Use and maintain company‑provided tools and equipment; return items to the tool room after use.
  • Follow SOP when operating ground support equipment.
  • Properly collect and dispose of waste fuel, oils, hydraulic fluids, de‑icing fluids, and solvent rags.
  • Accurately assign daily job charging to the aircraft.
  • Exchange job‑related information and coordinate work activities between shifts via turnover reports and direct contact with leadership.
Other Requirements
  • Basic computer and shop math skills.
  • Read and comprehend basic documents and instructions and read a scale.
  • Have essential personal skills, professional attitude, attention to detail, ability to work with people and meet demanding schedules.
  • Skilled in close tolerance work and knowledge of use of special tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small spaces or restricted areas and lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the English language.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4 years related structural assembly experience.
  • Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
  • Q‑stamp preferred.
